oh puhlease mr Bono!
and please take those glasses off.
a journey of self discovery. You just never know what we might see. Is that a fairy ring under that rowan tree? Look! - a hedgewitch, I wonder what she is brewing in her cauldron today. Oh, and look at that poor menopausal soul, she needs our love & understanding. We may take a stop at the creativity school or a wander through the garden. And maybe, we will take the time machine back to the past! But wherever we go, we will always take time to stop for tea.
here I am in a little cottage that evokes the energies of my ancestral lands - a cottage on the moors of Cornwall, or on the cliff tops of Ireland or Scotland. It has a hearth. I am a hedge witch {of sorts}. I wear upcycled clothes, patchouli oil and Redback boots. I am a gypsy; an eccentric and a mystic [I often live with a foot in two worlds]. I serve my guests, tea from an old silver teapot. I love Vervain, yarrow, chamomile & mint. Star watcher and Moon gazer. story cloth weaver. keeper of family dreams and wishes. good friend and creator of life. herbal tea drinker and potion maker.

Love it! Robert Kennedy Jr. should be added to this list of those that do GOOD WORKS and walks the talk on the environment and making a better, safer and cleaner world. I agree with you on Bono...
Hehehe. This made me giggle. I'm not a U2 fanatic, and I dig what Bono is doing and all - he has done a lot to promote good in the world, and has used his position to talk with the big wigs - *BUT* when he says that Bush is a funny guy I get upset. I am two minds about him - sometimes I think the same - that all his money could go towards feeding a small country, then I think that my own income could probably feed a small family. I dunno.
It's funny you should say this though cause I was talking about the same thing with Ben when they replayed his Denton interview lately. There is something wierd about it all though huh - why do celebrities get all the attention and all of these accolades when there are real people out there busting their guts who ask for nothing more than the satisfaction of knowing that their efforts are helping others? We live in a celebrity worshipping world I suppose. I just wish that more celebrities were made of the real people who do the hard gutbusting grassroots work.
Some people have their head up their ass. (Scuse me for my awful mouth.)
He is one of them...
I like their music, saw them live a few years ago and it was a highly energetic show. But so was/is the Ego.
xoxo
I recently read that Bono has moved his assets from Ireland to the Netherlands to avoid paying 42% tax on income and investments. In the Netherlands he pays 5%, I would regain some respect for him if he took the 37% he is saving and put his money where his mouth is.I can't believe his name was mentioned in connection with a Nobel prize. I don't get celebrities who for some reason become political and economics experts, he's a singer people! High profile perhaps, and if he draws awareness to the plight of poverty stricken nations thats great, but are the worlds leaders so desparate for photo ops that they will listen to this guy, and take him seriously? Rant over..Goodnight.!
I'll bet a lot of Irish think the same as you. In fact, I guarantee it.
*wink*
Aw, don't pick on Bono. He is doing some good. The hub is working on setting up cotton crops in Africa for Bono's Red Co. Give the guy a break. He's not sitting on his arse like most rock stars. But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinions, thank God!! (hehe, I kinda like the funky glasses too--just not on the Pope!!) Love ya Robyn for keeping the pot stirred! hehe. xxoo
Don't worry Robyn, there are a lot of people over here, including me are fed up of him, yes I know his views and opinions are sound but its the way he goes about them, I really think his ego is big enough to let him think he is the sole saviour of the world. He's what I call a rent-a-mouth. He will spout his opinion about anything, I'm afraid Bob Geldolf is going down the same path. It's a real pity. Now the cat is among the pigeons.
You make me laugh. :)
Good Morning miss*R
I've thought those thoughts for a long time, but didn't dare say them. It seemed that the whole world saw him as the second coming.
I hold a very low view of most movie stars and even music stars. They are so flamboyant about their so-called generosity.
I much prefer the stories of little old ladies who scrimp (spelling?) and save for their whole lives and then quietly leave enough after their death for the Canadian government to create a wildlife refuge.
I do lots of helpful things for people less fortunate than me, but I don't brag about it.
I'm not a Christian, but I like what Christ said: "When you pray, pray in the closet."
Okay...I like Bono (granted I am not over-exposed to him or his glasses) BUT living here in USA there are so many who live in the lap of luxury that do absolutely nothing!!!! He has tried to help Africa and the poorest of people in the world...he has used his fame to wake up some of those who sit in their Ivory Towers...if he needs a tax break, I don't care. Hey everyone has their opinions and that's what's awesome here.
:-)
I once heard a commentary say that as soon as Bono's career ends up in the toilet, the sudden inspiration to save the world begins. I couldn't watch that episode of him on Oprah. I'm sure he cares about what he talks about but I think it really helps his career out more than anyone else. But then I am totally jaded.
Ha ha! well said Robyn, I read something really funny the other day about Bono and I just simply dont look at him the same way anymore, it said "when did Bono turn into Robin Williams" ha ha ha! you gotta admit there is a likeness!
I suppose you give what you can regardless of your personal wealth and statis. Some need to blow their own horns to validate their importance and others just give support privately.
I nominated Bono for Pope last year, but the Catholic hierarchy simply doesn't listen to me the way they used to. Didn't he once claim he had invented the PA system? And then there's his assumed name -- Bono Vox. Anyway, he may well do some good in the world, but I really dislike the concept of neutrality. The fact that he decries AIDS and poverty in Africa, but then rubs shoulders with the very people who continually contribute to those catastrophic situations makes me really angry. I also wonder why he needs to go and start his own charitable foundation when there are many many tried and true NGOs in the world who would welcome the support of someone of Bono's stature.
You know which big-hearted celebrity I adore? The West Wing actor Bradley Whitford, who not only actively supports an organization like Heifer Project, but also contributes money to the theater program at my daughter's high school in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. (It's his alma mater.)
