sunday scribblings
*instructions* ~ nearly everything comes with instructions. Once upon a time - it was a leaflet, then it progressed to a colour booklet, then a video and now it is a DVD. I have an instructional DVD on how to work my washing machine, booklets on how to use my vacuum and pamphlets on how to water my garden. My toothpaste has an instruction on the box and my shampoo has it printed on the back of the bottle. HRT has instructions and I am sure condoms come with them too. Funny thing is though - the most important things don't come with instructions - how to be a parent & how to find the meaning of life. I think it would have been a very good idea if God had sent us with our own little instruction book, like miss*R - this is your life. I am sure He could have had it printed out into a little leaflet or even given us our own instructional DVD - I guess it would depend on which era you were born in. A DVD would have been no use to my grandma - she would have thought it was something to hang in the fruit tree to scare birds away! ahh well, life without an instruction book is very interesting and parenting without one, even more so! happy life, everyone!

I've always said that life is "on the job training", but for what ?
Add to this the fact that men rarely read the instructions, and it can make life really challenging. At times we discover ways of doing things that the instruction book would never mention, and that is when the fun begins..!

My hubby says when all else fails, then read the instructions!
I think it would make life simpler if we did have instructions but would it be as exciting or as interesting?

Yes it would be nice to have an instruction book or dvd. But I guess we will just have to muddle on and each find our own way. (((Hugs)))
It is said that we do get instructions before coming here, but the minute we are born, we forget!!!!!!

I can't read instruction booklets. If it can't get done without one, it doesn't get done by me!!

I suppose each of our lives provides an excerpt for the instruction booklet and we are to pay close attention to one another and learn.

Life certainly would be a lot easier if we had instructions to it but as it is, we have to learn by our mistakes and I think that's what God planned. How else could we learn the true value of life if not finding out for ourselves what is right and what is wrong. As for being a parent, all we can do is try to be the best we can and give our children love and security. Gosh, it wouldn't be just an instruction booklet...it would be a huge manual! lol Hugs xox
Great observation and thoughts. How true about your grandma. I never would have though of an instructional book or DVD for life's challenges. What a difference it would make.
I've always thought it would be nice for my Older Self to be able to travel back through time and tell my startled Younger Self some advice about life and the future.

Yep, it would be nice to have instructions, it could prevent an awful lot of unhappy circumstances - but then there might not be as many of the good surprises, either.

Good point Miss Robyn. Of course, since we don't come with instructions, that is why we write to each other and to the world and have people like H. Jackson Brown churning out little bits of wisdom.
