a journey of self discovery. You just never know what we might see. Is that a fairy ring under that rowan tree? Look! - a hedgewitch, I wonder what she is brewing in her cauldron today. Oh, and look at that poor menopausal soul, she needs our love & understanding. We may take a stop at the creativity school or a wander through the garden. And maybe, we will take the time machine back to the past! But wherever we go, we will always take time to stop for tea.

its only a beginning. . . .

my first ever quiltie/collage thingie.

Not quite finished - it needs something, I don't know what. I was thinking of putting words on it - 'ya gotta have friends' but I have no idea how to do that (even though some great gals have told me how - it is still beyond my understanding) - then I thought of an old key but mmm, not sure. ahh well, it will come, it will come. It is there somewhere in my mind. This little quiltie is made from all vintage fabrics - vintage feedsacks, lace & trim. Now I know why I am a hoarder.

I am not sure what to do with this - I have grandiose ideas of making a whole quilt, kinda crazy patchwork with a little applique, collage-y style. I will play and it will come.
I went to a crafty type shop today and they had these neat little alphabet stamps - so I bought a set as well as an ink pad and I have had go at stamping the words - not bad, although they do run a little. does that matter? sophie says no as it is not supposed to look perfect, otherwise it looks mass produced. I find it hard to go outside my square on this collage art.
I tidied my creative mess room - found lots of stuff I had forgotten I had, wonder how long it will stay that way. gawd, I have some unfinished stuff in there. And I made another kind of arty quiltie thing. this is fun!! and I am hooked.

I love it, are you going to make it the centre of a cushion, that would be the quickest thing to do, for your first one. If you feel wordy just put some words on it, the one thing about this collage thing is that there is no wrong and right, isn't that fantastic! Its exactly what you want it to be. Love and Hugs xxxx

oh look what you have HERE !

(((clapping))))))))))))))

Ah ha ! you did great ! I love it

as for adding words... I think symbols are much better.

it does not have to shout exactly what you mean- the symbols can be for only you to know what it means as far as friends and love , etc.

It can mean something else to the next set of eyes and let it be special to them in a secret way to thier heart as well.

And then ! If you both see the same magic message...well then !

Another thing about adding words....sometimes we rely to heavily on spelling it out for the viewer instead of working with what feels right for our own art we are creating. I like it much better when you GET IT w/o the words. Sometimes lettering and words seem to overpower a piece. So....just go with your HEART !

I think this is lovely. Wonderful and I know it is addictive to do these quilts ! I can't wait to see where it takes you.

The fabrics are wonderful.
Whatever you choose will really be the right thing !
Do your art for YOU.
Love, S.

ps. the new blog is looking pretty ! I have yet to see more I got so caught up here on this surprise!
